Our Mission

The American Indian Movement (AIM) is an American Indian grassroots movement that was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in July 1968, initially centered in urban areas to address systemic issues of poverty, discrimination, and police brutality against American Indians. AIM soon widened its focus from urban issues to many Indigenous Tribal problems that American Indian groups have faced due to settler colonialism in the Americas. These issues have included treaty rights, high rates of unemployment, the lack of American Indian subjects in education, and the preservation of Indigenous cultures.

The Core Principles of A.I.M

Establishing Sovereignty

Sobriety = Discipline

Supporting our community

At AIM Central Florida, we are proud of our impact on the lives of those we serve. We have helped by advocating the injustice throughout Florida, speaking at hearings, and being a part of educational events. Providing resources to help the different communities overcome challenges and achieve their goal of making it a better places for us all. We are committed to continuing this critical work, until there is no more injustice and All are treated Equally.

Spirituality: Practice what you Preach!

We are actively advocating for the injustice of Indigenous people throughout FL as well as the rest of the States. The involvement is from helping schools in FL change their school mascots from indigenous persons or symbols to more appropriate mascots. Defending and stopping the desecration of burials throughout the state. Advocate for the injustice and crimes that are being committed.

It is the spirituality of it all.

We celebrate our individual tribe's culture and spiritual beliefs. Because one needs to express themselves the same way their ancestors expressed themselves to the universe. These actions help carry our ancestors' traditions with us and show the people that WE ARE STILL HERE!
